Men's Week 12 - Summer Rains

Back to Meadows Golf Center Men’s League Posts League Page

Hope this week produced the ONE (and only) big rainstorm of the season. Tuesday night / Wednesday morning rains (5"+) had the MGC parking lot inundated and I was doubtful that league could happen... but the course looked fine and the sun came out - until it was time to tee off so ... nevermind. Thank you all for getting your matches played - I hope the greens were a bit more receptive as our turf is surely at field capacity (to holding water). Long awaited potassium sulfate and ammonium sulfate have been applied to the greens albeit spoon-fed (0.1 lb per 1000 square feet) due to summer stress. I've also applied a fungicide to hopefully head off what looks to be the beginnings of a dollar spot or anthracnose infection. I'll follow up in a week with more fert and more fungicide as conditions indicate.

The Hulls tightened their grip on first place when both 2nd and 3rd place teams were stymied 9-9 in their respective matches. There are two weeks left in the 2nd round robin then we will create the final 3 week's schedules manually... 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd, 5th vs 8th, 6th vs 7th ... 1st vs 3rd, 2nd vs 4th, 5th vs 7th, 6th vs 8th ... 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, 5th vs 6th, 7th vs 8th - and that's your season. Banquet the following Wednesday - free golf beforehand.

Sorry no skins/near pin this week but we'll carry over $12 near pin and play on #7 again next week... Here's your player results with stats:

And here's your schedule for this upcoming week... the weather should be GREAT!
