Tuesday felt like a late June day... hot enough to put the new heat exchangers to a cooling test that passed with flying colors ... Sunny and HOT. League night was another thing altogether... cloudy and threatening rain at any moment. Once again I'm glad I'm no longer called upon to predict the weather as I would have never expected the league to get all of the matches in... well done, fellas!
We're starting to see the golf course under all of that hay. With both the Jake F10 ("Orange Crush") and the Dixie Chopper failing after rolling near the spot where lightning struck 2 decades ago (F10 broke its driveshaft, Dixie Chopper lost its engine oil due to a faulty oil pressure sender) I was left to cut tees this morning with ol' reliable, Troybilt 22" push mower. Luckily we've cut most all of the rest of the course earlier in the week but there are still quite a few troubling spots (to put it mildly). To add insult to injury a bunch of Northern Flicker have settled on the 8th green in a sloppy attempt at aereation - jamming their beaks into the bentgrass turf in search of ants, beetles, etc. Perhaps a light topdressing of sand will fill in the holes and smooth the turf?
The Scorecards: All in all a week of haves and have nots

John couldn't quite keep up with red-hot Mitch who had 2 birdies and 4 pars. Bill Drew once again throws his hat into the ring for "Nick Malaxos Sandbagger of the Year" by taking 24 strokes on the 2 par 4s yet manages to nail his near pin tee shot to 27 inches and makes the birdie on #7, then follows up with a par on 8 (he's had TWO holes in one on #8)

Another one-sided match - Kenny "two gloves" rides solo and just couldn't get off the "bogie train" ... Get well soon, Florencio... Dale shoots a season best net 24 - and will be losing a few strokes off his handicap next week - but nope... his birdie on 7 yields no $$$

...how the mighty have fallen? Defending champ Gary hasn't carded a par yet this season - Is he playing possum? I've suggested a swing exam by a PGA pro to get him back on track. Liam followed suit after his near hole in one last week he went 0 for 9 for greens in regulation, too. Ouch.

Joe / Carlos hung in there for 3 holes but fell back on scoring holes 4,5,6 and the match was truly over after losing both ends of the 8th hole
