We'll begin on a sad note: Ron Kutkiewicz passed away on July 3 ... there will be a visitation followed by a memorial service beginning at 1PM Friday, July 24 at the Jay Gould Memorial Reform Church in Roxbury. Please carve out two hours to pay your respects to the man and his family as both Ron and his wife Sandy have been long time supporters of MGC and our Men's League. Thank You.
Another fine week of golf in the books ... Mitch and Larry Hull maintain a precariously small lead in the standings with a 10-8 win over Dustin / Mitch VK (Larry's 39 net 25 was the difference and Mitch Hull's 2 over par 31 net 30 mostly offset Dustin's fine 35 net 30)- can they continue to hang onto first place?
Back to Gross (no handicap) skins / near pin: perhaps next season we can sell you all on converting to Net skins to make things more competitive and hence more participants?
Mitch Hull is working towards scratch ( zero handicap ) - he seems to have both the how far AND the how many figured out... Joe Munyon had a breakout week with a gross round just over bogie golf joining Dale Kowatch, Bill Drew, and Mitch Van Keuren in the net 23 club. Mitch Hull picked up a skin ($12) with a birdie on #1 but was thwarted by substitute Russ Matson when both birdied #7. This week's "big" winner is Andrew North ($28) who picked up near pin honors on #6 and won a skin with the only par on #2. This week's near pin will be on #7.
Will Joe / Carlos big stroke allocation make them the new "Giant Killers" of the league? Can Mitch / Larry hold them off in spite of giving strokes on every hole? A featured match - Andrew/Dale (3rd place) vs Dustin/Mitch VK (2nd place). Can Mitch VK overcome the 8 strokes he has to give Dale? Dustin vs Andrew is a straight UP showDOWN. Bill/John play a competitive match against Kenny J / (substitute) and Christian/Marshall receive just one stroke each (on hole #1) against Liam / Gary so this should prove to be yet another interesting week of golf...
