Mens League 2024 Event 16

Well winning this season’s league championship will come down to the final matches of the season. Early indication is that the weather will, like today, cooperate – might even be a little cooler and drier. Today’s weather surely seemed to be, like so many Wednesdays this season, another evening of spotty showers but low and behold the skies stayed mostly blue and the puffy clouds didn’t leak even a drop of rain that reached the ground. Whew!

Next week we’ll play our final match of the season. Then, on Wednesday, September 11 we’ll have our annual banquet in the clubhouse starting at about 6-6:30 PM – as soon as you finish your last round. Please arrive ready to tee off no later than 5PM with your teammate: Format will be alternate shot; “A” player tees off on odd holes 1,3,5,7,9; “B” player tees off on even holes 2,4,6,8; team handicap is the AVERAGE of the two player’s handicaps. Matches will be 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, etc… Shotgun Start. Stroke play net total will determine the $80 winning team – If your teammate cannot attend PLEASE arrange for a substitute from our list who can also attend the post match dinner. Non Playing Guests are welcomed BUT you must register by September 4 and a pay $40 dinner fee. Thank you again for a great, though wet, season so far!

The Giant Killers opened up a lead on #1 points earner Andrew and sub John Zummo but 5th place team 10 went 3-0-3 over the last 6 holes to force the 9-9 tie
Larry/Mitch get their crack at the title next week by drawing to within 2 points of first place with this 10.5 – 7.5 win. Mitch scored 33 net 29 over an on the job injured Mike Chevy. John F. kept things close – losing only one hole – with a well played 41 net 32
Jerrod stepped in for AWOL Skip / Bill and tied Kenny J despite the stroke count but Average Barney couldn’t handle Ron K.’s net par round as Kenny / Ron take the match by 3 points.
Dustin / Dan were up by 3 points and seemed to have the match well in hand after 6 holes but Derek won his last four holes and drew the match even
League leaders Mike/Gary give up 3 of their 4 point lead as Mike B continued his dominant play (two skins and near pin AGAIN) – in the holes 4-8 stretch he won 4 of 5… Gary shot a fine 35 net 29 but Joey H got good use of his 7 handicap strokes to play Gary to a 4.5 to 4.5 draw
John M / Chris fell behind early, pulled even after 6 holes, and outright won holes 8 and 9 for their 4 point margin over Marshall / Christian
