Men’s League 2024 Event 14

Well I’ve reinforced the notion that I’m no weather forecaster… unstable atmosphere resulted in a couple of heavy, though short lived, rain showers… so much for our “nobody gets wet” policy! Though once the showers abated the evening proved quite nice…. scores from those that stayed and played took advantage of the receptive greens, the turf conditions, and what seemed to be a friendlier than average setup.

We ended Wednesday with only 7 players in skins/near pin – Mike Lor grabbed near pin honors to take that $14 “pot” … hope a few more of you jump in this week as near pin in at the “hole in one magnet” number 6 … how about our first “ace” of the year this week? Only $5 to play…

Tony/Lou vs Kenny/Ron just couldn’t figure out when to play their match – waiting for that perfect sunny day, perhaps? So both teams end up with a big zero in the points column… oh well.
Chevy/John jumped out to a quick lead but pars on holes 5 and 6 evened things up for Mike/Gary. Holes 7 and 8 proved decisive and Mike Lor’s par on the 9th hole prevented the tie.
Skip/Bill opened up a lead through 5 holes and held on for the 1 point win – losing holes 8 and 9 almost cost them the match
The 8th hole – the “toughest little par 3 in the Catskills” – made the difference as did Dustin’s bogey 5 on #9 which gave team 4 a half a point averting yet another tie.
…and in this match the 6th hole was the difference maker though Lenny put up a game battle but fell to Mike Bryden’s continued hot play (30 net 27) and substitute Yvan shot an impressive net 30 grabbing points on holes 2 and 3 to keep his side in the match
Marshall/Christian jumped out to an 8-2 lead after 5 holes and hung on to win the match by pulling half points on three of the last four holes
