Men’s League 2024 Week 11

Seems that we’ve made it through the initial Round Robin and in two weeks (weather permitting) we will publish the revised schedule whereby the top 6 teams will play a five week round robin against each other as will the bottom 6 … this way everybody gets a shot at their closest rivals in the standings…

Hasn’t been my best year for predicting the weather and keeping you all dry…apologies all around. We’ll see how unsettled the weather will be on Wednesday!

League Standings (see report) are quite tight with SEVEN teams within 6 points of first place! It’s been quite a scramble over the last several weeks with no one team able to lock into the top spot – it should make for quite a final stretch run.

Check the Skins and Stats report to see that this week was “for the Mikes” as Mike Lor grabbed near pin with an apparently “barely on the green” 20’1″ effort that no one else could top on #8… he also grabbed a skin with a birdie on #7 for a $27.50 payout. Red Hot Mike Brayden hit three birdies that no one else covered to grab $22.50 – three skins for himself. This week’s near pin will be back on hole #2… $5 to join!

After falling behind early the “Giant Killers” aced holes 5 – 8 and win the match by a single point
There was no keeping up with Mike Brayden and Joey as Mike shattered net par with a season best 27 gross and Joey Hall posted a handicap busting 40 net 27 to best the one time league leaders 12-6
Andrew North shot another stroke busting 32 net 27 to pound Average Arnie; Florencio held his own against Average Barney tying 4.5 – 4.5
Dustin/Dan continue to move up in the standings with steady play (Dan certainly is making a fine case to be the “Nick Malaxos Sandbagger of the Year”). John had a tough week that I’ll blame on my inability to predict the weather and Chris played fine but for the “bookend holes” (1 and 9)
Another 9-9 tie in league play as Lenny almost set the “Gold Tee” standard but for a double bogie on the 9th hole. Gary couldn’t keep up with an improved substitute Yvan and the 9 handicap strokes gifted
Mitch and Larry made a statement with steady play and a big win as Kenny tried his best to keep up and Ron just had one of those “rainy week off days”
