Well, guess maybe I should have written it down: Not making your match doesn’t abrogate your responsibility to pay the greens fee for that match. We have several men who pay “a la carte” forking over $12 each week – men with memberships or who have a “league night only” membership are prepaid and so are not obligated to pay in any given week… I thought that was pretty clear… I probably make that point every year during our organizing meetings which for this year were, to put it mildly, sparsely attended. I’m left to speculate that anyone who has never been in a league might surmise that there are times when they don’t have to pay a greens fee – well they’re wrong and I guess that next year I’ll put these thoughts in writing; maybe even gather signatures to make sure that fact is clearly understood by all so that we can put any misunderstandings to rest. You know me… Mr. non-confrontation …
Another bone to pick: Does Julie need to hold the scorecards until all four players in a match are present so that just before you tee off we give you your scorecard? Or do I need to continue to hear the hew and cry at least once every week “Where’s my scorecard?”
And speaking of scorecards… need I remind you all AGAIN that perhaps if your team is not marking the “official” scorecard that perhaps you should be keeping an “unofficial” scorecard so that when the card is signed by the Scorer and checked and Attested by an opponent that everyone agrees that the card is correct? Now I’m being questioned by a player whose team failed to check the card and is now disputing it… and neither scorer not attest is marked. If you care about the score then attest it… By my thinking once the card is in the red bucket its done unless everyone in the foursome can come to an agreement to edit the card before the next match. Done.
BTW… in the event that we lose our 14th team the team designated as playing team 2 will be given a bye week… you will still be provided a scorecard and will play “Average Arnie and Average Barney” whose scores are the league average for a single round for the “A” players and the “B” players, respectively.
Onto the matches!
The Near Pin and Skins this week: Once again Mitch Hull posts a number on near pin but this week was bettered by James Wilson who snuck his tee shot to 13’10” to top Mitch’s effort by 25’… but all wasn’t lost for Mitch who took the whole skins pot with the only par on the previous hole, number 4, which will host near pin next week. The takeaway: Jamie $24 , Mitch $36
