Men’s League Week 3

Conditions are firming up, to say the least. NYSEG will be handing out turkeys once they receive payment as the water pump is going all night, every night trying to play catch-up on soil moisture on greens that were already in a pretty sorry state. They’ll green up again; grass has thrived on this bottom land since the last ice age glaciers pulled back so don’t fret.

I know – Most everybody still plays a blind tee shot over the no-mow on #9 and consequently there are plenty of lost balls in the left rough… in your foursome does anybody stand around the 8th tee to get a good angle that can track most any tee shot on #9? Think about it… Sooner or later I want to plant a birch forest between 1 and 9 to discourage that blind tee shot even more…

Dustin / Casey maintain their grip on first place with Casey’s 38 net 30 pacing the win
Marcel must have spent a bit too much time in the deep rough at Hanah as he suffered a rather ugly tick bite and a consequent case of Lyme disease… get well soon! The “new Giant Killers”, Yvan and John Z both broke net par and should expect the loss of a stroke or two their handicaps as John Fronckowiak (spelling corrected) shot a respectable net 32 to no avail.
The “dream team” ran into a buzz saw as Justin kept up stroke for stroke with Mitch and Zach shot a handicap busting net 26 to defeat an off-week Chevy. This foursome managed to keep ALL $36 of the skins pot as Mitch / Chevy had the only pars on holes 4 & 7 respectively, and Justin had the only par on 9
Andrew shows a sweet swing and plenty of golf IQ but he just can’t overcome opponents like Kenny J shooting net par… Florencio is coming into his own with a net 31 so perhaps the cerveza is finally providing just the right amount of swing lubrication…
The defending champs vault into a tie for first place – after losing the first hole 8-0 they won 6 of the final 8 outright and tied 2 … 6-1-2 for a 73-27 win
Mike is picking up handicap strokes every week and is waiting for a new partner (his brother Justin?) John M. and Chris Smith pick up the win as John stayed just close enough and Chris shot a nice Net 31 for a close 8 point win
Tom Squires filled in again for DanO’ and still hasn’t knocked the rust from his game as he managed just 7 points from Average Arnie. Bill Drew takes near pin and $24 on #6: his 22′ 1″ effort topping Mike Lor by 8′ .. Gary Hessberger’s pre-round routine led to a nice net 29… he had quite the appetite post match at the All American BBQ as well… hmmm?? First 50-50 tie match I can remember… no losers … everybody’s a winner… how Woodstock era…
