Nope, it didn’t rain on Wednesday; yup it was windy Wednesday morning rendering that morning’s leaf removal efforts moot… Sorry about that. Got their in time to clear a strip on the 9th fairway for the first match… cleared the rest of the 9th fairway for your other two… but the 7th, 8th, 9th greens… meh. Hey anybody that shows up early is welcome to grab the backpack blower and/or mount the Kubota to clean things up a bit…just sayin’
Glad to see all six teams out there… and 9 of 12 players joined skins / near pin after last week 4 of you won skins… Well this week we got more of the same: pars, not birdies, on 4 holes won ($6.75) skins… Justin (2nd), Lenny (3rd), Gary (6th), and Mike (8th) all took a skin with a par. Jamie picked up near pin honors ($18) on the 5th hole plunking his tee shot to 14′ 5″ but Mike and Ron covered his par with pars of their own. Only two birdies shot this week – Dustin on the 9th and Jonathan on the 5th but wahhh wahhh neither plays the skins/near pin game … You gotta be in it to win it. Next week we’ll compete on hole #6…
Our metaphorical team Icarus – Ron and Kenny – fell to earth today but did hold 1st place for week 1 anyway. They kept it close through 6 holes, but dropped the last 3 holes 18-3 to Gary / DanO (who had the shot of the day with a chip in for par on #9 onto a leaf covered green). Final score Gary/DanO 67.5 – Ron/Kenny 22.5. Gary/DanO vault into 2nd place; Ron/Kenny fall back to 5th
Our new 1st place team is Jamie/Christopher, who find themselves in 1st place despite dropping a relatively close match to Dustin/Justin 51-39; they were ahead in a close match 18.5-16.5 after 5 holes but dropped holes 6 and 7 6-1 and that was that.
Mike/Jonathan made up a lot of ground on Lenny/Derrick – they won their match big 63-27 but Lenny/Derrick remain in 3rd place by the narrowest (0.5 point) of margins over Mike/Jonathan. Mike/Jonathan held a slim 22-20 lead through 6 holes but put the match away winning holes 7 and 8 14-0.
