Men’s League Week 9 results

Somehow you all got 8 matches completed in spite of the unstable weather that naturally arrived between 4 and 6 PM… I witnessed a couple of super cool pars last night… Rich McGlynn managed one- after what was looking like a horrible finish (+8 for holes 7,8) (and a tee shot that seemed to roll into the creek on 9). So Rich STICKS his recovery inside the leather for a kick in par (3 + penalty) to avoid total catastrophe. Bill Reed gorphed his tee shot on #3 and if he’d been playing Texas rules he would have dropped his trousers for failing to reach the lady’s tees… so he sticks his second shot to within a foot and kicks in a par on the toughest par 3 on the course. Wow!

And speaking of WOW… two candidates for the “Nick Malaxos Sandbagger of the Year” award had quite the week (at the expense of their exasperated opponents) Lou (I’m just here for FUN) Capello plunked down a 46 net 28 in his bid to drop out of the “18 handicap” club. And how about Yvan Luxama who posted the 2nd best net of the field – 45 net 27 ? Both gentlemen will carry their 18 handicaps into next week so if you’re going head to head with either be forewarned: they’re no pushovers.

This Week’s featured match … first place vs second place… Jamie/Chris vs Thomas/Daniel … 11vs17 will be held Friday. In the meantime I’ll post the scorecards that are already posted. Standings / Skins / etc. will be posted Friday night… Senior Scramble Sunday Morning… $5k hole in one (#2), $1k putting contest starts at 9AM…

Well the featured match was held Thursday after the combatants looked at the weather forecast. They played and Thomas/Daniel eked out a 10 point win over the still in first place team of Jamie / Christopher. The real surprise is Cody / Owen, who’ve jumped into second place with a big 75 point week … The rest of the reports tell the story but in looking at the skins I feel compelled to remind you (Lenny your birdie on #3 and Harry your birdie on #4 went for naught…) that you gotta be in it to win it! Our winners this week… John Mulloy who’s had a few near misses cashes in big with his shot on 2 settling to inside 6‘ (AND MAKING HIS BIRDIE PUTT) to cash in to the tune of $77 (Sorry Peter Barcia your 17′ effort made the board but fell short.) The other skin, worth $33, goes to Cody Rieder for his birdie on #9. Next week our near pin will be on hole #8 – Little River – I’ll carve out a nice easy rear pin position for you all…
