It’s Mid-Season already… July 1 and the weather managed to hold up while all teams (and all 3 substitutes) managed to get their matches in without getting wet. Conditions are still holding up though the course’s roots as a cow pasture still shows through via the prevalence of white clover – particularly in the roughs… Playing a bright red or green ball might help you avoid a three minute search and a two stroke lost ball penalty…
Team 17’s view from the top was short lived as Team 11 (Jamie Wilson and Christopher Stevens retook the top spot but for how long??? as Thomas (I’m a 1 handicap) Chairvolotti / Daniel (I need to draw my driver) Eignor are in second place and within striking distance… and get to play Jamie / Christopher in our featured show down match next week!
This week 17 of 36 golfers shot net par (29) or better… Eleven of those Seventeen golfers have (had?) handicaps of 9 or better… Lenny Millen (35), Larry Hull (36), Tom Squires (38), and Zach Golden (39) led the bogey golfer pack with three under par net 26’s…
I guess near pin on hole 3 spooked a golfer or two because our pool fell to 20 golfers for $100… $60 skins… $40 near pin. The 150-ish yard set up worked well for a few of you as the scoring average for the hole was down significantly – lower than the average score on holes 2, 4, and 7. It looked like John Mulloy was going to grab the $40 but he got edged out by Ron Kutkiewicz… Congratulations Ron ($40 pays for the remainder of the season’s near pin / skins)! And speaking of skins… We’re dividing the pot into four this week – $15/skin … so the lucky winners are: Dan O’Neal (who chipped in for birdie from the valley on #2 after taking relief from the “dirt ditch”); Dan Gulino (who is back on track with a 30 net 25 following last week’s 35 / 29) with a birdie on #4; and Mitch Hull who followed up a birdie 3 on the first hole with the sole birdie on the 80 yard 8th hole for a $30 payoff… Next week’s near pin will be on the 2nd hole… you gotta be in it to win it!

Sunday AM & Friday PM Scrambles!!
We’re firing up new events at MGC… Sunday, July 12 9AM we will conduct the first “Super Seniors Scramble” for “seasoned” age 50+ golfers… 9 holes, 2 player teams (random draw for teammate) $25 gets you 9 holes of golf… $5000 hole in one (hole TBA) … $1000 putting contest … and food and beverage to follow…
Younger golfers will get their scramble on Friday July 17 5:30PM … open to all …same format… cash awarded to the winners and one random team…
We’ll run these scrambles regularly (every other week?) if participation warrants so please come out and support these first efforts!
